FAQs — PR-218
What is PR-218 used for?
Bathtub, shower enclosure and basin sealing, kitchen countertop, sink and backsplash joints, toilet and plumbing fixture installation, and tile edge and glass partition sealing.
What mould resistance grade does PR-218 have?
Grade 0 — no mould growth at 50× magnification after 28 days at more than 90% relative humidity. It was tested against 9 strains including Aspergillus niger by Guangzhou Institute of Microbiology, a CNAS / CMA accredited laboratory.
Can it be used on chrome and acrylic?
Yes. PR-218 is neutral cure, so it does not attack chrome, anodised trim, enamel or acrylic. Acid cure sealants should be avoided on those surfaces.
How long before the shower can be used?
Wait for full cure, not just skin time. A typical bathroom bead takes around 24 hours at normal room temperature. Water exposure during cure is the most common cause of early failure.
What is the MOQ and lead time?
Standard OEM and private label MOQ is 1,000 pcs per model, with mixed-model trial orders from 3,000 pcs total and stock items from 500 pcs. Typical lead time is 15–25 days after artwork and sample approval.
What is silicone sealant anti mould, and how is it tested?
Silicone sealant anti mould grades contain a biocide package that suppresses mould growth on the sealant surface in permanently wet conditions. PR-218 is a neutral cure anti-mould sanitary sealant, tested to JC/T 885-2016, and specified for bathroom, kitchen and shower joints. Neutral cure matters here as much as the anti-mould property, because it will not attack the metal fittings and stainless steel present in a wet room.
How is anti-mould performance different from being waterproof?
They are separate properties and a sealant can be one without the other. Waterproofing is about the polymer resisting water passage; anti-mould is about the surface resisting fungal growth in permanently damp conditions. PR-218 is a neutral cure sanitary sealant tested to JC/T 885-2016 that does both. What no sanitary sealant does is survive continuous immersion — for tanks and pools, a different product is required.
Where should a sanitary silicone sealant not be used?
A sanitary silicone sealant is for building joints in wet rooms, not for immersion. PR-218 must not be used in continuous water immersion, on oily or exuding surfaces, or as a structural adhesive. Surface temperature must be between 4 °C and 40 °C at application. Where a joint ponds permanently, or where the sealant would be submerged, tell us the service environment before ordering.
